Press Brake Operator
Job Summary:
The Press Brake Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining press brake machines to bend, form, and cut sheet metal or metal components to specific dimensions. The operator will ensure accuracy and quality of the parts produced, following engineering blueprints and specifications while adhering to safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set up and Operate Press Brake Machines: Interpret blueprints, drawings, and work orders to determine machine setup, part specifications, and sequence of operations. Program and configure press brake machinery to produce metal components.
- Adjust Machine Settings: Adjust ram depth, back gauge, and other press brake parameters to ensure precise bending angles and dimensions based on specifications.
- Perform Quality Control: Measure and inspect finished parts for accuracy using calipers, protractors, and other precision tools. Make necessary adjustments to the machine to ensure product quality.
- Maintain Equipment: Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on press brake machines to ensure optimal performance. Notify supervisors of any major repairs needed.
- Follow Safety Standards: Adhere to company safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment. Properly use personal protective equipment (PPE) and machine guards.
- Record and Track Production: Keep accurate records of production quantities, time, and materials used. Report any deviations from planned output or material usage.
- Collaborate with Team: Work closely with other operators, engineers, and quality control personnel to meet production goals and resolve issues in real-time.
Qualifications:
- Experience:
- 1-3 years of experience operating press brake machinery, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience with CNC press brakes is highly desirable.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Technical training in metal fabrication or machining is a plus.
- Technical Skills:
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and schematics.
- Proficiency in using measuring tools like calipers, micrometers, and protractors.
- Basic understanding of press brake machine programming and operation.
- Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and move heavy materials (up to 50 lbs).
- Standing for long periods and working in a fast-paced environment.
- Attention to Detail: Strong focus on accuracy and precision to ensure parts meet specifications.
